The web app

How do I sign in?

Tap Login or Sign up and enter your email. We send a six-digit code that works for ten minutes. No password to remember. If it doesn’t arrive, check spam, then tap Resend code.

Who can see my photos?

Only you, until you switch a photo to Public — at upload or later from the photo’s Edit drawer. Public photos show on Home, in Search and on your profile, and people can review them. A private account limits your public photos to approved followers.

Which files can I upload?

JPEG, PNG or WebP, up to 25 MB. On an iPhone, Safari converts HEIC photos to JPEG when you pick them. We read the camera settings to show them with the photo; location is never read.

Why does my photo say Unverified?

Every uploaded file does. CameraOnce can only vouch for how a photo was made when it was captured in the CameraOnce camera, so for uploads it makes no claim either way.

How do reviews work?

Open a public photo and tap Review: a score from 1 to 10, what already works, and one thing to try next time. You can edit or delete your review at any time. Reviews of your own photos land in Reviews → Received.

How do I delete a photo or my account?

Open the photo, tap Edit, then Delete photo. To remove everything, go to Settings → Delete Account.

The iPhone camera

Do I need an account?

No. The camera works the moment you open it. An account is only for the web app.

What are presets?

Eight styles, each with a few variations. Choosing one sets every control for that shot and tells you, in one line, what to do with your body, your subject or your timing — the half a camera can’t do for you.

What do “When” and “Best near” mean?

Some shots depend on something arriving, like traffic or a train, or being near something, like a bridge or water. With Location on, the line turns yellow when that thing is nearby.

AI Help

Why does AI Help ask for an API key?

AI Help uses your own key, so there is no subscription. With a key from Anthropic, OpenAI or Google the app can look at your actual frame, billed to your account — usually a fraction of a cent per look. Without one, tips are worked out on your phone from the light meter.

How do I add a key?

  1. In the app, open Settings → AI Help, choose the provider, tap the key row.
  2. Paste it and tap Check and save — one tiny request proves it works first.

It says my key was rejected

Check you copied the whole key, that it belongs to the provider you picked, and that the account has billing set up. Most rejections are a key pasted under the wrong provider.

Context and permissions

Why does it want my location?

To work out where the sun is, when golden hour ends, what the weather is doing and what is worth shooting nearby. It is optional, with a switch per source in Settings → Context.

What exactly gets sent?

Settings → Context → What AI Help sends shows the exact lines first. Your coordinates are never among them. Full detail on the privacy page.

I said no to a permission and changed my mind

Open the iOS Settings app, scroll to CameraOnce and switch it there.
